
Insurance companies’ profit in 2021 amounted to about 98.91 million lei, which is 3.1% higher than in 2020 (95.96 million lei).
The National Commission for the Financial Market informed that, such profit (before taxation) was registered by 10 licensed insurance companies of Moldova. Grawe Carat Asigurari received the highest profit - 35.78 million lei (+40.7% compared to 2020) and General Asigurari - 28.28 million lei (up almost 2.8 times). At the same time, two insurance companies reported losses in 2021 - Moldcargo (-9.5 million lei) and Garanție (-0.5 million lei). As of the end of December 2021, the total assets of insurance companies in Moldova amounted to 3 billion 628.94 million lei (+ 14.4%), including net assets - 1 billion 185.6 million lei. The available solvency margin in the field of general insurance ranged from 62.33% to 341.39%, and in life insurance - 644.53%. The liquidity ratio varied from 1.15% to 51.62% in the general insurance sector and 61.62% in the life insurance segment. In 2021, insurance companies collected premiums totaling 1 billion 926.35 million lei (+32.6%) and paid indemnities totaling 662.13 million lei (+11%). 406.8 million lei were allocated for reinsurance. General data on the insurance market includes information on the activities of 10 licensed insurance companies. The authorized capital of 10 insurance companies amounted to 421.5 million lei. At the same time, the National Commission for the Financial Market presented data on the activities of 4 companies that were previously left without a license: Alliance Insurance Group, Asito Direct, Galas and Sigur-Asigur. In 2021, two of them have written premiums of 486.2 thousand lei. With the exception of Alliance Insurance Group, all insurance companies remaining without licenses paid indemnities in 2021, their total amount exceeded 7.08 million lei.
