
Dmitri Torner, President of the Moldovan Biathlon Federation, described the implementation of artificial intellect in biathlon
On July 1-2, in Vienna (Austria), a meeting was held between the presidents of the national biathlon federations for the 30th anniversary of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) , - reports Moldova1.
During the event, the President of the Biathlon Federation of the Republic of Moldova, Dmitri Torner, spoke about the perspectives of introducing digital technologies in the biathletes training process
He pointed out that the Biathlon Federation of the Republic of Moldova and its IT partners have been working on an application to analyze the biathletes technique.
System equipped with artificial intelligence
According to Dmitri Torner, such a digital system consists of cameras located along the biathlon track, equipped with artificial intellect with neural networks. A special module is able to determine the biathletesmovements, automatically detect errors and give recommendations for their elimination.
Dmitri Torner noted that the data obtained with a help of such technologies will assist to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the biaathlete and optimize the training process for maximum effect
"Digital technology, artificial intelliect, neural networks... These are all tremendous opportunities for the development of sports and biathlon in particular. The application, that we want to use, will help to keep track of the real progress of the biathlete.
This is especially important in children's sports, when the basis for the future mastery is been put in place”, - he said.
«The role of the coach, of course, is decisive, but such technology can significantly assist him in the training process," - believes Dmitri Torner.

He is convinced that more precision and the elimination of the human factor are the main advantages of the introduction of artificial intellect in the training process.
President of the Federation is confident that the active implementation of digital technologies will be one of the key directions in the biathlon development strategy in the country.
