Radu Vrabie was appointed new director of Moldova's Customs Service
The government adopted this decision at a meeting on Wednesday, after relieving of duties Alexandru Iacub, who had submitted his resignation and was appointed deputy secretary of state at the same meeting. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Finance Minister Andrian Gavrilita thanked Alexandru Jacub for his work and the progress achieved, including the introduction of a new computerized transit system in Moldova, progress in combating violations, etc. As noted, Alexandru Jacub remains on the government team and will assist the new head of the State Chancellery, Alexei Buzu, with important reforms. From August 2025 to the present, Radu Vrabie has worked at the EBRD as project manager for the implementation of the Development Plan for Moldova, and prior to that as senior expert on administrative capacity building at the EBRD and in public and private structures. He has nearly 20 years of experience in macroeconomic reform, economic policy analysis, and structural transformation. His career spans both the public and private sectors, including senior positions in USAID-funded development programs and senior positions in corporate affairs. Radu Vrabie has led strategic reforms that have strengthened Moldova's economic institutions, increased trade competitiveness, and promoted regional economic integration.
