New regulations on beer and beer-based beverages come into force on May 24
The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) has reminded that, in accordance with the provisions of the new document, the quality of products sold is confirmed by a certificate of conformity (issued by a certification body based on a product analysis report) or a self-declaration of conformity procedure (carried out by an economic agent using an approved template, with the attachment of a laboratory analysis report). As a reminder, the government approved the new regulations a month ago. It expands the classification of beer according to the extractivity of the wort, alcohol concentration, and type of fermentation. This will simplify the introduction of a more diverse range of products to the market, increase consumer interest, and boost sales and exports. Aging beer in barrels will allow the production of high-quality products that can be sold at a higher price, providing producers with greater income. Regulations on low-alcohol beer with low and moderate alcohol content are also being introduced, which is a measure that meets the growing demand for such products. In addition, the list of raw materials and auxiliary materials used in the production of beer and beer-based beverages is being updated. The document describes requirements for quality and safety, labeling, product traceability, storage and marketing rules, etc. The new regulations will replace a similar document that has been in force since 2012. // 23.05.2025 — InfoMarket.
