The European Commission welcomed the efforts made by the Moldovan authorities to implement the 9 recommendations for the country's accession to the EU.

This was discussed during a meeting held by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu with Director General of the European Commission's Directorate General for Neighborhood Policy and EU Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) Gert Jan Koopman. It was also attended by representatives of the State Chancellery, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Anti-Corruption Center, the Competition Council, the Council on Television and Radio and the Agency for Interethnic Relations. The meeting was dedicated to the implementation by Moldova of the 9 recommendations proposed by the European Commission in June 2022 in its conclusion on Moldova's application for accession to the European Union. The progress of our country's implementation of recommendations on deoligarchization, increasing administrative capacity, managing public finances and expanding the participation of civil society in decision-making processes was discussed in detail. The head of the Foreign Ministry stressed that the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission has been and remains a priority for the authorities. “We have been able to make significant progress in implementing the recommendations and are continuing to work towards their implementation to ensure the impact is sustainable. We hope that Moldova's efforts will become a solid basis for the European Commission to recommend starting accession negotiations in the fall of 2023,” Nicu Popescu said. In turn, Gert Jan Koopman welcomed the efforts made by the Moldovan authorities and confirmed the importance of allocating adequate human and financial resources to ensure the sustainability of ongoing reforms. The importance of continuing the ongoing actions was also noted.// 26.05.2023 — InfoMarket.
