Moldova denounces 2 international agreements signed within the CIS framework.
The government approved a decision on the denunciation of an agreement on common terms of delivery of goods between organizations from the CIS member states (1992) and an agreement on exchange of information on protection of external borders of the CIS member states (1996). The first agreement provides for the creation of favorable conditions for maintaining and developing economic relations between CIS enterprises, based on economic cooperation agreements signed between them and sets the order of signing agreements on delivery of goods, exchange of documents, etc. The Cabinet specified that the agreement has lost its topicality, as Moldova today applies the rules of market economy and the goods are delivered on the basis of individual contracts between the economic agents, without the state participation. The government specified that the annulment of the agreement would not have any negative consequences for the economic agents. The second agreement - on the exchange of information on the protection of external borders of the CIS countries - provides that the CIS countries will exchange information on the protection of borders on a free-of-charge basis. The government explained that the agreement was not actually applied by the Moldovan competent authorities and that this document is not valuable and is irrelevant in the context of Moldova's strategic development along the European path. Minister of Internal Affairs Ana Revenco specified that the ministry analyzed 39 agreements with the CIS, the implementation of which is within the Internal Affairs Ministry’s competence. Ten of them were defined as unprofitable for Moldova, taking into account the risks that these agreements may bear for the national security and irrelevance in the context of the European integration of the republic. Nine more intergovernmental agreements with the CIS, which relate to security issues, border management, emergencies, etc., are to be denounced in the near future. // 17.05.2023 – InfoMarket
