Moldova regulates the rules of import and export of ecological products
The Government approved the relevant regulation, which transposes the provisions of 4 EU documents in this field. Thus, the legal framework regulating organic production will be improved and harmonized with EU norms, which will facilitate trade in organic products and diversify markets. The document establishes norms on the rules of import and export of organic products, rules of certification and official inspections. It also establishes the cases in which organic products are exempted from official controls at border control posts; specifies the actions to be taken by the authorities in case of risk detection, etc. Also, the government updated the Regulation on the use of the national trademark “Organic Agriculture - Republic of Moldova”. The main changes concern the simplification of the procedure of applying the national mark to a new product by already certified operators in the field of organic farming. Companies will also be able to request an extension of the authorization for the next year, if the product label has not changed significantly. It is worth mentioning that so far, 13 authorizations have been issued to 7 economic agents from Moldova to use the national brand for the packaging of such products as herbal tea, table grapes, wine, lavender oil and walnut kernels. // 28.08.2024 – InfoMarket
