
Imports to Moldova in January-July 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, decreased by 2%, amounting to $5 billion 010.8 million.
As the InfoMarket agency was informed by the National Bureau of Statistics, traditionally, the majority of goods were imported into the country by road transport - 78.1% of the total volume. Sea transport accounted for 7.6% of total imports, railway - 4.1%, air - 1.8%, self-propelled imports - 0.7%, postal items - 0.1%, and the share of fixed transport installations (gas pipelines, electrical networks) – 7.6% of total imports. In particular, the volume of imports of products from EU countries to Moldova in January-July 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, increased by 3.7% - to $2 billion 451.1 million, from the CIS countries - decreased by 26.4% - to $972.3 million. Import of goods from other countries increased by 11.2% - up to $1 billion 587.4 million. The share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan imports increased from 46.23% to 48.92%, the share of CIS countries decreased from 25.86% to 19.4%, and the share of other countries increased from 27.92% to 31.68%. In the TOP countries, which accounted for the largest volumes of Moldovan imports over 7 months of 2023, included: Romania (15.6% of total imports), Ukraine (12.5%), China (10.9%), Turkey (8.7%), Germany (7.1%), Italy (5.5%), Russia (4.3%), Poland (3.5%), France (2.5%), India (2.4%), Hungary (2.2%), Czech Republic (1.8%), Bulgaria (1.7%), Greece (1.6%), Spain and the USA (1.3% each), Austria and Japan (1.1% each), Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands and Slovakia (1% each), Great Britain (0.9%), Belgium and South Korea (0.7% each). Analysis of the evolution of imports by country in January-July 2023, compared with the same period in 2022, shows an increase in imports to Moldova from Ukraine (+30.1%), Turkey (+22.9%), China (+10.9%), Greece (2.2 times), Kazakhstan (4.1 times), Germany (+6%), Slovakia (1.6 times), Japan (+37.7%), Italy (+5.2%), France (+11.5%), Czech Republic (+15.4%), Israel (1.7 times), Bulgaria (+13.0%), Ecuador (1.6 times), Egypt (2.9 times), Sweden (+31.6%), Austria (+12.1%), Vietnam (+24.4%), Poland (+3.3%), Azerbaijan (in 1.6 times), Georgia (4.2 times), Spain (+7.6%), Hungary (+3.9%), Portugal (+19.1%), North Macedonia (2 times). At the same time, the volume of imports to Moldova from Russia (-70.8%), Romania (-8.1%), India (-17.9%), Belarus (-22.6%), USA (- 17.8%), Uzbekistan (-47.8%), Pakistan (-31.8%), the Netherlands (-5.7%). In the import structure for 7 months in 2023, significant shares were occupied by the following groups of goods: oil, petroleum products and related products (15.8%); gas and industrial products obtained from gas (7.6%); electrical machines and equipment and their parts (7.5%); motor vehicles (6.6%); yarn, fabrics, textiles and related products (3.6%), medicinal and pharmaceutical products (3.4%); industrial machines and general purpose devices; parts and spare parts for these machines (2.8%); vegetables and fruits (2.8%); specialized machines and devices for specific industries (2.6%); apparatus and equipment for telecommunications and for recording and reproducing sound and images (2.4%); clothing and accessories (2.2%); processed metal products (2.1%); mineral or chemical fertilizers (2%). // 15.09.2023 — InfoMarket.
