
To the NCFM were transferred the powers to protect the rights of consumers of financial products.
Due to the fact that from July 1, the National Commission for Financial Market was given the authority to protect consumers of financial services, one of the most important functions of the institution is to regulate and supervise the ways of providing financial services and mechanisms for settling customer claims, as well as settling incoming consumer complaints. As the press service of the NCFM reported, from the point of view of consumer rights, non-bank credit organizations, insurers and insurance intermediaries are the subjects of supervision of the NCFM from July 3. From January 1, 2024, the NCFM will also ensure the protection of the rights of consumers of services provided by banks, payment service providers and electronic money issuers, as well as currency exchange offices. According to the NCFM, assistance to consumers of financial services is provided by phone (+373) 22 859 401, and a complaint can be filed by e-mail office@cnpf.md or directly to the office of the institution in Chisinau (st. Stefan cel Mare 77). Recall that from July 1, 2023, the powers of the NCFM for licensing / authorization, regulation and supervision of professional participants in the insurance market, non-bank credit organizations, savings and loan associations and credit history bureaus were transferred to the National Bank of Moldova.
