
The Government of Moldova has set a quota for ethyl alcohol for pharmaceutical production and use in medicine in 2022 at the level of 38.17 thousand decalitres.
In comparison with the previous year (34.99 thousand dal), it increased by about 9.1%. The volumes of ethyl alcohol approved by the Cabinet of Ministers for this year are intended for use in medical institutions and the pharmaceutical industry. In general, within the approved quota, ethyl alcohol for medical purposes will be received by 7 users - 6 companies and the National Center for Blood Transfusion. At the same time, a quota of 10.79 thousand decaliters was approved for the winners of the centralized public auction in accordance with the needs of health care institutions. In general, the largest quota of ethyl alcohol in 2022 was allocated to ElaDumPharma (former name - Farmacia Cojusna) in the amount of 24.31 thousand deciliters, of which 10.79 thousand deciliters are intended for the needs of medical and sanitary institutions). The quota for MC Pharmaceuticals will be 9 thousand dal, Eurofarmaco - 2.09 thousand dal, FluMed-Farm - 1.38 thousand dal, Blood Transfusion Center - 1.04 thousand dal, Farmaprim - 0.27 thousand dal, Medicamentum - 0.04 thousand decalitres, Balkan Pharmaceuticals - 0.015 thousand decalitres. The Ministry of Health notes that the National Center for Blood Transfusion requested this year a quota for ethyl alcohol for pharmaceutical production and use in medicine, which is 2.89% less than last year. Herewith, a higher quota compared to the previous year, and in 2022 was requested by: ElaDumPharma - by 6.1%, Eurofarmaco - by 4.04%; Flumed-Farm - by 1.71%, MC Pharmaceuticals - by 25.58%. Meanwhile, two more consumers of ethyl alcohol were included in the list for 2022 for its use in the pharmaceutical industry. The volume of allocated undenatured ethyl alcohol is aimed at improving the level of quality assurance of domestic medicines and monitoring the use of undenatured ethyl alcohol in medicine in Moldova.
