In particular, this is provided for by the relevant bill on ecological production and labeling of ecological products, which the Parliament adopted in the first reading. The document establishes the principles of organic agri-food production and defines the legal basis for the production of organic products, the appropriate certification and use of indications related to organic agri-food production in advertising labels, as well as the control rules for organic production and labeling of organic products. The purpose of the law is to ensure the sustainable development of ecological production, fair competition and the proper functioning of the internal market for ecological products, and consumer confidence in the relevant products. According to the bill, the promotion and development of ecological agriculture will be stimulated by providing subsidies from the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Environment. The amount and procedure for their provision will be determined by the government. The document contains provisions aimed at ensuring the sustainable development of ecological production, fair competition and the proper functioning of the internal market for ecological products. The bill also stipulates products and substances permitted for use in organic production, labeling and certification of organic products, their import and export, as well as measures that can be applied in case of non-compliance in organic production. At the same time, according to the document, an automated information system for ecological production will operate in order to record and exchange data related to activities in the field of agri-food production. The authors of the bill also propose to provide more powers to the National Food Safety Agency. The legislative initiative was developed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and envisages for the harmonization of national legislation with EU legislation. // 02.03.2023 — InfoMarket
