Moldovan government approves the requirements for the quality of beekeeping products intended for consumption.
The matter concerns the quality requirements for beekeeping products intended for consumption, including beeswax, propolis, royal jelly and pollen. The resolution adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers establishes requirements for quality, food safety, presentation and labeling, which must be observed in the production, collection, processing, packaging, storage, transportation and sale of beekeeping products, both domestic and imported. The document presents general and specific requirements for manufacturers of beekeeping products. It is stipulated that beekeeping products can only be sold in premises that meet the approved storage conditions, with a sanitary and veterinary authorization. Beekeeping products can only be sold with a sanitary and veterinary certificate. As noted in the explanatory note, the elaboration of the document was due to the lack of requirements and rules for the assessment and certification of beekeeping products, with the exception of natural honey, and the impossibility of placing these bee products on the market in the absence of a product quality certificate. The implementation of the document will make it possible to bring national requirements for the quality of beekeeping products in line with EU requirements, eliminate non-tariff barriers and disloyal competition in this market. The document will take effect 3 months after it is published in Monitorul Oficial. // 12.11.2020 - InfoMarket.
