The first Romania-Moldova Economic Forum (F.E.R.M.) was held in Chisinau and was dedicated to dialogue for a modern, inclusive, and sustainable economy

The event, organized by the European Patronage of Businesswomen (PEFA) under the auspices of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) in partnership with the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau, brought together high-ranking officials, economic leaders, and entrepreneurs from both sides of the Prut River. Opening the event, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that Romania is a key investor for the country, investing more than €250 million in Moldova annually. At the same time, more than 1,700 companies with Romanian capital operate in the Moldovan market. The head of state emphasized that accelerated digitalization and fiscal reforms are making Moldova more business-friendly. "Moldova is open to investment and growth, which would be impossible without the implementation of projects with Romania that are changing people's lives for the better. We have an energy interconnection that connects us to the European market. We are completing the construction of the Chisinau-Vulcanesti power line and preparing two other power lines. We have repaired bridges and are building new ones, upgraded roads and railways, and launched infrastructure projects that bring our communities closer together and open up new economic opportunities," said Maia Sandu. In her speech, National Bank Governor Anca Dragu noted that the Romania-Moldova Economic Forum highlights “a shared vision of a prosperous European future.” She noted that the development of a competitive investment climate is based on policies and initiatives that are founded on principles of fairness. The head of the NBM emphasized the institution's commitment to the process of compliance with European standards and the success achieved through Moldova's accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), which means faster and more affordable transactions for citizens and companies. "SEPA integration reinforces the process of modernizing and bringing the payment system into line with European standards, which began with the launch of MIA Instant Payments. I am honored to lead an institution whose mission is to ensure financial stability and which is also the architect of the transformation of the Moldovan financial system in line with European standards. Our mission goes beyond the traditional responsibilities of a central bank: we are the conduits of a modern, digital, and inclusive economy," said Anca Dragu. Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Cristian-Leon Turcanu emphasized the importance of bilateral economic partnership, a dialogue that benefits all citizens on both sides of the Prut River and covers all areas necessary for the development of society. According to him, the forum brought together future business partners, business ideas, and initiatives for sustainable economic growth, encouraging and recognizing the contribution of women entrepreneurs to the economic development of society. During the event, the first edition of the Female Entrepreneurship Index was officially presented. This is an analysis and monitoring tool that assesses the participation and influence of women in the business environment. Two discussion panels were also organized: the first, FinanciarELE, focused on balanced leadership for a strong economy, while the second discussed the development of bilateral relations between Moldova and Romania and prospects for cooperation in energy, banking, defense, and social protection. // 17.09.2025 — InfoMarket.
