The National Commission for the Financial Market (NCFM) is alerting citizens to cases of investment fraud using images and data from certain authorized companies
Specifically, the National Commission for the Financial Market (NCFM) is warning about attempts at online fraud using fake investment platforms that use the names and images of authorized organizations and certain public figures to create a sense of legitimacy. Fraudsters use sponsored advertising on social media (Facebook, Instagram), promising unrealistic profits. They misuse the logo, colors, and names of companies authorized by the NCFM to deceive users, and use fake images or videos (deepfakes) of public figures who "recommend" the platform. They clone official websites or create webpages imitating financial institutions or news portals. By clicking on links in the ads, citizens are directed to fake "investment consultation" groups on platforms such as Telegram or WhatsApp. In some cases, requests to install applications or remote access programs are actually specifically designed to infiltrate devices or steal data. The National Commission for the Financial Market (NCFM) has identified signs of potential fraud: advertising through "sponsored ads" that suddenly appear in the news feed, originating from Facebook pages with official-looking but misleading names; messages hinting at cooperation with government agencies or political figures; requests for money transfers or bank details outside of official and secure channels; unauthorized contacts (calls, emails, messages) urging urgent investments. The NCFM recommends ignoring advertisements promising incredible profits through various investment schemes, verifying the offer on the official website of the organizations in question by entering the address in a browser rather than clicking on links in the advertisements; and not providing bank details for offers that seem "too good to be true." "Do not allow anyone to remotely access your mobile phone or computer (through apps like AnyDesk, LogMeIn, etc.) for technical 'assistance.' This could expose your device to malware and allow unauthorized access to personal or banking data. If you see such advertising, report it on the platform (Facebook/Instagram) in the 'Fraud/Scam' section. A list of organizations authorized by the NCFM can be found on the website. If an organization is not on the list, it should not be considered legitimate," the NCFM notes. They also point out that government agencies and public figures do not advertise investment platforms or organizations and will never contact you with requests for money, personal data, or banking information. According to national legislation, any organization engaged in banking activities or providing financial investment services in Moldova must have a permit or license issued by the competent authorities. When interacting with unauthorized organizations, consumers do not enjoy the protection of the legal framework and are not entitled to compensation under existing protection or compensation mechanisms. Consumers are strongly encouraged to report any such attempts to law enforcement agencies and/or the NCFM. For further information or to report suspicious activity, please contact the NCFM at 022859595 or by email at office@cnpf.md. //25.03.2026 – InfoMarket.
