More than 4.8 million lei have been allocated to equip 108 schools in Moldova with equipment for science experiments, robotics classes, and 3D modeling
According to the Ministry of Education and Research, the procurement is being carried out as part of the “Education Quality Improvement” (EQIP) project, which is being implemented with financial support from the World Bank and the Global Partnership for Education. Educational institutions will receive kits that include Labdisc multifunctional laboratory platforms for conducting physics, chemistry, and biology experiments; robotics and electronics kits; digital multimeters; digital microscopes, and 3D printers. The equipment will enable students to go through the full engineering development cycle—from creating a digital model to manufacturing, testing, and refining the final product—and will be used both in classroom lessons and in interdisciplinary projects. For example, the Labdisc platforms are equipped with digital sensors that measure temperature, light intensity, pressure, and other physical parameters. The collected data can be immediately visualized and analyzed, allowing students to study natural phenomena through hands-on experiments. The LEGO Education SPIKE and SPIKE Essential kits will be used in computer science, robotics, and technology classes; they will enable students to assemble and program mechanisms and robots, as well as carry out projects that integrate knowledge from multiple academic disciplines. 3D printers will allow students to design and manufacture parts for robots, geometric models, mock-ups, prototypes, and other educational materials. In addition, schools will receive electronic circuit kits and digital multimeters for studying electrical circuits, as well as portable digital microscopes for examining plants, insects, crystals, and other specimens both in laboratories and during fieldwork. As a reminder, the 108 beneficiary schools are among the 200 educational institutions selected in 2024 through a competitive process to participate in the EQIP project.
