10 civil society organizations from Moldova will receive grants from the EU totaling up to €500,000 to expand access to modern extracurricular services for children from a number of regions

In particular, thousands of children from rural communities in Moldova will have the opportunity to participate in high-quality, interactive extracurricular educational programs offered by 10 civil society organizations with financial support from the European Union totaling up to €500,000. The initiative was developed as part of the BOOST: Building Opportunities for Outstanding School Time project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Terre des hommes Moldova Foundation in partnership with Junior Achievement Moldova and APSCF. As the authors of the initiative note, after school, children not only have free time, but also a real opportunity to learn, develop, and feel safe. However, in many rural and vulnerable communities in Moldova, this opportunity is lacking due to limited access to extracurricular services and educational opportunities. To address this challenge, 10 civil society organizations are receiving grants totaling up to €500,000 to develop and expand extracurricular and after-school services that will benefit approximately 2,500 children aged 7 to 14. The EU grants will thus contribute to the creation of safe and structured spaces for extracurricular activities, as well as the organization of a variety of educational activities for children, ranging from homework assistance and knowledge reinforcement to master classes in STEAM, digital education, arts, sports, and creative activities aimed at supporting children's learning and harmonious development. At the same time, these initiatives will promote the social integration, well-being, and sustainability of children, encourage the involvement of parents and teachers in educational activities at the community level, and ensure access to quality extracurricular services for vulnerable children, including those from low-income families and rural areas. These services will be available in the districts of Cahul, Telenești, Cahul, Florești, Călărași, Ocnița, Rîșcani, Glodeni, Fălești, Sîngerei, Criuleni, Orhei, and Hîncești. BOOST - Building Opportunities for Outstanding School Time is a project that will be implemented between 2025 and 2028, funded by the European Union, aimed at strengthening community organizations in Moldova so that they can provide quality extracurricular/after-school and social services for children and young people, with a focus on inclusiveness and equal access for vulnerable and marginalized groups. The project combines financial assistance (grants), technical expertise, and capacity building, working in partnership with government agencies and drawing on cutting-edge European experience. The total budget for the BOOST project is €1,174,684, of which €1 million is a grant from the European Union. // 23.01.2026 — InfoMarket.
