In Moldova, pensions will be indexed by 10% from April 1

This is provided for by the draft law on the matter, which the Parliament adopted with the votes of 77 deputies. The law on pension indexation from April 1 stipulates that the indexation coefficient of 10% will be applied only to the part of the pension that does not exceed the average monthly salary in the economy, projected for 2025, in the amount of 16,100 lei. It is expected that this mechanism will allow, on the one hand, to protect the purchasing power of pensions that do not exceed the average salary, and on the other hand, to reduce the gap between high and low pensions. In order to ensure the payment of pensions and other social benefits in the indexed amount, the National Social Insurance Agency will make changes to the Social Protection information system. Accordingly, the National Social Insurance Agency, in accordance with its functional powers, automatically indexes pensions and social benefits. The bill was drafted by a group of MPs from the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) faction with the aim of increasing pensions and bringing them in line with economic growth. The document will be considered in the second reading by parliament. // 27.02.2025 — InfoMarket.
