In Moldova, the level of absolute poverty is planned to be reduced by at least 50% by 2030.

In Moldova, the level of absolute poverty is planned to be reduced by at least 50% by 2030.

This is envisaged by the National Development Strategy “European Moldova 2030” approved by the Parliament. 54 deputies voted for the corresponding bill in the second reading. It's about the approval of a national long-term strategic vision document that indicates the direction of the country's development and adapts to the national context the priorities of international obligations assumed by our country in accordance with the Association Agreement with the EU, as well as arising from the status of a candidate country for EU accession. The development goals contained in the strategy reflect the desire to improve the well-being of the people of Moldova, improve the lives of citizens, Europeanize state institutions, strengthen democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights. Thus, the document establishes 10 common goals used to measure the quality of life at the EU level. This is an increase in income from sustainable sources and a reduction in inequality; improvement of living conditions; providing relevant and quality education throughout life; raising the level of culture; improving the physical and mental health of the population; a reliable and inclusive system of social protection; efficient, inclusive and transparent governance; a fair, incorruptible and independent judiciary; a peaceful and secure society; healthy environment. The project aims to achieve specific targets by 2030, such as reducing absolute poverty by at least 50%. If GDP growth is higher than the planned annual rate of 5% until 2030, respectively, the absolute reduction of poverty will also be better. The strategy will become a reference document in the process of developing a medium-term budgetary framework and determines, among other things, strengthening the resilience of Moldova in the event of new crises. It will also guide development partner assistance in relation to national development priorities and ensure better coordination of aid projects. The draft National Development Strategy "European Moldova 2030" was developed by the government with the support of development partners.// 17.11.2022 — InfoMarket
