More than 160 individuals in Moldova have paid 2 million lei to the budget in the form of income tax from the provision of services to non-resident IT companies and social networks.

According to the press service of the State Tax Service, last year 161 taxpayers voluntarily submitted their income tax declaration, indicating that they received income from the provision of services to non-resident companies, social networks (Google Ireland LTD and Facebook Ireland LTD), in the amount of 19.9 million lei. Withholding income tax amounted to 2 million lei. At the same time, in 2020, the tax authorities continued to apply voluntary compliance measures in relation to some persons with a significant difference between declared and received income. It is reported that 14 individuals filed tax declarations, indicating income in the amount of 3.8 million lei and paying income tax to the budget in the amount of 520.9 thousand lei. The State Tax Service notes that according to tax legislation, the subjects of income tax are individuals-residents of Moldova who do not engage in entrepreneurial activity and during the financial period receive taxable income from any sources in Moldova and from any sources outside the country for their activities in Moldova.
