Starting December 26, the Moldovan government will have a Crisis Headquarters to effectively manage possible emergencies

This was announced by Prime Minister Dorin Recean after a joint meeting with the participation of ministers, heads of agencies, subordinated institutions and energy companies, at which they discussed priorities and measures needed to ensure citizens' security during the winter holidays, as well as the management of possible disruptions in electricity supply. Prime Minister said that public order, traffic safety, support for citizens returning home from the Diaspora, taking care of those in difficulty are only part of the institutions' responsibilities during this period. To ensure good management of these aspects, Prime Minister outlined the responsibilities of the authorities in each individual area. For example, the Interior Ministry will intensify patrols on public routes and at festive events, and will also regulate traffic in congested areas. At the same time, the use of fireworks will be controlled, while the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations will be responsible for the prevention of fires and other situations jeopardizing the safety of citizens. At the same time, the Border Police will work with the authorities of neighboring countries to manage passenger flows and increase the capacity of groups at border crossing points. The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure will be responsible for the full preparation of road infrastructure, cleaning and maintenance of roads. The Ministry will also ensure the efficient operation of the airport and manage the flow of passengers and the citizens welcoming them. Preventive measures will be promoted in school institutions to ensure personal safety, use of heat sources, and warnings about the dangers of pyrotechnic materials. Another measure concerns the provision of support to citizens from the Diaspora for the processing of documents in urgent mode, as well as the necessary support to people in difficult situations and people with disabilities. At the same time, the National Agency for Food Safety will be in charge of ensuring the quality control of the products. Prime Minister also mentioned the necessary measures in case of possible power cuts. In the absence of electricity, hospitals and medical facilities will work without interruptions, schools will switch to generators, and the authorities will work with mobile operators to guarantee communication in emergency situations. “We are prepared for any possible scenario and plans to destabilize the country will not succeed. From December 26, the government will have a Crisis Staff to ensure effective management of any emergency situation,” Dorin Recean said. // 24.12.2024 - InfoMarket.
