State-owned Energocom has repaid ahead of schedule the second tranche of a 200 million euros loan from the EBRD for natural gas procurement.

State-owned Energocom has repaid ahead of schedule the second tranche of a 200 million euros loan from the EBRD for natural gas procurement.

The tranche was accessed earlier this year with a maturity date of October this year, it said in a statement, and the loan was repaid ahead of schedule on August 7. The loan totaling 300 million euros for the implementation of the project "Security of Natural Gas Supply" was used by Energocom between October 17, 2022 and January 10, 2023 to diversify the sources of natural gas purchases and create strategic reserves. To implement this project, 130 rounds of auctions organized under EBRD rules were held, during which more than 300 million cubic meters of natural gas were purchased. As Energocom notes, this is a revolving type loan and can be used by the company in case of need within 3 years. As previously reported by InfoMarket, in mid-June Energocom reported that it had fully repaid the first tranche of 100 million euros of the loan received from the EBRD in 2022 for the purchase of gas. It was noted that the first tranche of the loan was used between October 17 and November 2, 2023 to diversify sources of natural gas purchases. The second tranche of 200 million euros was intended for the purchase of natural gas for emergency situations. Both tranches were aimed at creating strategic gas reserves, which did not exist until last fall. // 08.08.2023 – InfoMarket
