In Moldova have come into force fines for passive electoral corruption
The corresponding amendments made to the Code of Contraventions came into force on August 15. Thus, a claim to receive, consent to accept or acceptance (taking) by a voter personally or through an intermediary of property, services, privileges or advantages in any form that are not due to him/her, for himself/herself or for another person for the purpose of exercising or not exercising electoral rights during elections, including regional ones, if the act is not a crime, entails a fine in the amount of 500 to 750 cu. (from 25 thousand to 37.5 thousand lei). At the same time, persons who committed such an act, but turned themselves in or actively contributed to identifying or countering the commission of an electoral corruption act, are exempt from liability. This category of offenses does not include obstruction of the free exercise of the right to vote or the activities of electoral bodies - such an act is a criminal offense and is punishable in accordance with the Criminal Code. // 21.08.2024 — InfoMarket.
