A new irrigation system for farmers will be built in the village of Climăuții de Jos, Soldanesti district, with a total investment of 5.43 million lei
This is stipulated by a contract signed on Thursday by representatives of the IFAD Joint Program Implementation Unit (IFAD UCIP), the local administration, and the client group. The total investment is approximately 5.43 million lei, of which 5.04 million lei is a grant from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), with contributions from local farmers covering the remainder. The project envisions the construction of a modern irrigation system, which will include: a water intake from the Dniester River; a pumping station connected to the power grid; a water supply system; and a distribution pipeline equipped with hydrants. Once completed, the system will irrigate approximately 60 hectares of agricultural land cultivated by more than 30 farmers growing fruit trees and field crops. Thus, the irrigation system in Climăuții de Jos village will contribute to increased agricultural productivity, reduced drought risks, and the development of more competitive and climate-resilient agriculture in the northern region. Through investments in rural infrastructure, IFAD programs continue to support the development of rural communities and enhance the capacity of Moldovan farmers to address climate challenges.// 09.07.2026 – InfoMarket
