Moldovan authorities intend to attract new investments, including in the “Bălți” Free Economic Zone and in industrial parks
This was stated by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu at a meeting with representatives of local authorities and decentralized services in Bălți, with whom he discussed development priorities for the municipality. He emphasized that Bălți and the northern part of the country have tremendous potential, and that a new level of development can be achieved through close cooperation between the government and local authorities. “Our success, the government’s success, is only possible through close cooperation with local authorities,” the Prime Minister emphasized. Alexandru Munteanu recalled the experience of effectively managing the crisis related to the pollution of the Dniester River. “I am glad to return in a more positive context than last time. Back then, we were responding to a crisis; indeed, I am glad that we handled it together, professionally, limited the consequences of the Dniester pollution, and returned to normal life in a short time,” the Prime Minister noted. Discussions focused on investments in the region and infrastructure development, including the road network and railways, as well as the implementation of projects aimed at improving people’s lives through investments in healthcare, education, and environmental protection. Important projects are also being carried out to improve energy efficiency, utilize renewable energy sources, and modernize energy infrastructure. The discussions also addressed the main challenges facing local authorities and residents. Topics included the situation at the Apă-Canal Bălți utility, the management of the solid waste landfill in Țambula, road repairs, the shortage of design specialists, and the unblocking of certain cross-border cooperation projects. Regarding economic development, the goal of attracting new investments—including in the Bălți FEZ and industrial parks—as well as developing local businesses was highlighted. “As a government, we are developing infrastructure. On the other hand, it is necessary to create as many viable projects as possible using modern technologies in order to retain our youth,” the Prime Minister emphasized. // 08.05.2026 – InfoMarket.
