Over the past four years, Moldova has experienced the most extensive phase of investment in infrastructure - Vladimir Bolea
The Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development made this statement at a press conference on Friday, summarizing the work of the Ministry's team in 2021-2025. He emphasized that the Ministry manages the largest investment portfolio, which is aimed at modernizing roads, expanding water supply and sewerage networks, and developing the transport sector. The Ministry's main focus during this period was on national local development programs. As part of two editions of the European Village program, more than 1,380 local projects were financed, with a total value of 5 billion lei. In particular, more than 900 km of water supply networks were built, providing drinking water to hundreds of thousands of citizens, as well as hundreds of kilometers of sewerage networks and modern street lighting, and more than 300 state institutions (kindergartens, schools, medical centers) were renovated. In the field of road infrastructure, with the support of external partners such as the EBRD, EIB, and World Bank, hundreds of kilometers of national and regional roads have been reconstructed and built. These include the modernization of the Balti-Falesti section of the R16 highway, the construction of a bypass road in Troita Noua and a bypass road in Comrat, the reconstruction of the first section of the Chisinau ring road, the completion of the reconstruction of sections of the R1 Chisinau-Straseni road and the Bahmut-Ungheni section, as well as the construction of a bypass road in Bahmut and the reconstruction of the Chisinau ring road. The transport segment has seen the signing of agreements with the EU, Romania, and Ukraine on the liberalization of road transport, as well as the resumption of important rail links. In the transport segment, agreements were signed with the EU, Romania, and Ukraine on the liberalization of road transport, and important rail links were resumed: Basarabeasca–Berezino, Chisinau–Bucuresti, Chisinau–Kyiv, and the electrification of the Iasi–Ungheni line, the first modern railway infrastructure of this type in the country's history, which will connect Ungheni with Iasi and Bucharest, has begun. At the same time, construction began on a bridge in Ungheni, the first bridge built in more than 60 years across the Prut River, and feasibility studies are being prepared for four other bridges across the Prut, which will connect regional economic corridors. At the same time, Chisinau Airport has returned under state control and been named after Eugen Doga. It is considered one of the most efficient airports in Europe in the category of airports with up to 10 million passengers per year. In the field of construction and urban planning, modern planning and control rules have been introduced through the new Urban Planning and Construction Code, the creation of the Office for Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Construction, and Housing, and the launch of the State Register of Buildings. It should be noted that Vladimir Bolea has headed the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development since November 2024, prior to which he headed the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry for two years. He became a member of the 12th Parliament, where he was elected on the PAS list. // 24.10.2025 — InfoMarket.
