The EU will help Moldova develop its economy and create a more modern and transparent business environment as part of the new ETaC project

The European Union Delegation to Moldova announced this, noting that the EU, in order to support Moldova's economy and local businesses, jointly with the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, has announced the launch of a new project that will help the country develop its economy and create a more modern and transparent business environment - EU4Business: Empowering Trade and Competitiveness (ETaC). As noted, this project means clearer and more modern rules for the economy and trade for Moldova; digitalization for simpler and faster procedures; support for small businesses and entrepreneurs; easier access to the EU market; and a more competitive and fair business environment. “Through this project, the EU supports positive changes in Moldova and creates more opportunities for Moldovan companies to develop and enter international markets,” emphasized the EU Delegation to our country. According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the European Union, in cooperation with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the International Trade Centre (ITC), has launched the ETaC project, which aims to support trade development and increase competitiveness in the Eastern Partnership countries by promoting reforms in the areas of trade facilitation, SME support, and evidence-based economic policy modernization. Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor noted that thanks to the support of the European Union and projects such as EU4Business, the authorities are firmly committed to supporting Moldovan companies in the process of digital transformation and increasing competitiveness in international markets. “This project represents a real opportunity for businesses to adapt to global requirements and build a more sustainable and prosperous economic future for Moldova,” she stressed. In turn, EU Ambassador to Moldova Iwona Piorko said that trade is not just about the exchange of goods and services. “It is also a breath of fresh air that offers citizens a wider choice, opens up new opportunities for business, and brings greater stability and growth to society. Strengthening Moldova's competitiveness and developing its trade are key priorities for the European Union in our partnership with Moldova,” she noted. “The new joint OECD and ITC project EU4Business: Empowering Trade and Competitiveness in Eastern Partnership Countries aims to support Moldova in removing structural barriers to stimulate trade, investment, and competitiveness, as well as to promote economic convergence with the EU in terms of labor productivity and living standards,” said Daniel Quadbeck, Head of the OECD's Eastern Europe and Southern Caucasus Division. During the event, representatives of the OECD and ITC presented the main components of the project and activities planned for the coming period, including the first results of the assessment of the state of play in trade facilitation in Moldova. Progress achieved was noted, as well as areas requiring further intervention. // 19.09.2025 — InfoMarket.
