Germany will provide Moldova with grants worth 14.8 million euros for the implementation of projects in the energy efficiency, youth vocational training and improvement of the efficiency of public administration.

Germany will provide Moldova with grants worth 14.8 million euros for the implementation of projects in the energy efficiency, youth vocational training and improvement of the efficiency of public administration.

The parliamentary press service said that this is envisaged by a relevant agreement with the German government on technical cooperation to finance these projects. The launch of negotiations on this project and the subsequent signing of the document have been approved by the parliamentary commission for foreign policy and European integration. In particular, Moldova is expected to receive 3.8 million euros in the form of a grant to promote youth employment by setting up vocational training programs oriented to practice in economic sectors with a high demand for quality labor force, including in the energy sector. The program will be implemented in 2024-2026 and the beneficiaries will be young people under 35 from Moldova and Ukraine. A 5 million euros grant will be provided to Moldova by Germany for energy efficiency and promotion of renewable energy. The grant will be used to develop regional energy efficiency and renewable energy plans, as well as to organize activities to disseminate best practices in this field at the municipal level. The project will be implemented from November 2023 to October 2026. Another grant of 6 million euros is intended to improve the attractiveness and efficiency of public administration in Moldova. The project aims at implementing some of the measures of the Public Administration Reform Strategy and the Public Financial Management Development Strategy. The objective is to strengthen human resources management, improve the provision and digitization of public services, and strengthen the capacity of public administration at the local level.
