The Ministry of Agriculture informed about it, noting that this new project of the World Bank in the agricultural sector is to contribute to raising the competitiveness and sustainability of the sector, as well as to the diversification of markets. It is stressed that in the context of the final negotiations with the representatives of the WB at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry priority areas of funding have been identified. The head of the Agrarian Ministry Vladimir Bolea stressed that the priority is the rehabilitation of primary and secondary irrigation infrastructure, the expansion of irrigated farmland and the transfer of knowledge on technologies and practices of water conservation. "Climate change significantly affects the dynamics of agriculture. Thus, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food is in a constant search for tools that could increase Moldova's resilience to climate vulnerability. High temperatures and lack of water resources are the main problem of today's realities. Resilience to climate change can be increased by modernizing agriculture through the rehabilitation of irrigation systems. We want the investments made in the new project to be sustainable so that thereafter there will be increased opportunities to produce valuable crops for export and overcome economic vulnerability," the minister said. Other activities to be financed under the project are modernization of the food safety system, creation of a register of farmers and development of value chains.
