This was reported by the National Bureau of Statistics, noting that out of the total volume of issued permits, 2,044 (67.3% of the total) were for residential buildings, and 994 (32.7%) were for non-residential buildings. At the same time, the number of permits for the construction of residential buildings in 2020, compared with 2019, increased by 8.1%, and for the construction of non-residential buildings - decreased by 17.5%. According to the NBS, in January-December 2020, 1,730 permits were issued for the construction of residential and non-residential buildings in Moldovan cities and 1,308 permits for construction in rural areas. Herewith, if the number of building permits issued in cities for the specified period increased by 6.4%, in rural areas it decreased by 11%. In 2020, most permits for the construction of residential buildings were traditionally issued in Chisinau municipality - 927 against 741 units a year earlier (+186 units). In the development region "North" the number of permits issued for the construction of residential buildings increased over the specified period from 253 to 271 units (+18 units), in the development region "Center" - decreased from 576 to 465 units (-111 units), in development region "South" - remained at the level of the previous year - 171 units, and in ATU Gagauzia - increased from 150 to 210 units (+60 units).
