In the period from March to September 2020, the National Health Insurance Agency (CNAM) allocated almost 498 million lei to fight COVID-19.

According to CNAM, the largest amount (over 460 million lei) was allocated from the main fund of medical services for the diagnosis and treatment of people with COVID-19. Of this amount, almost 8 million lei were allocated for testing for COVID-19 and more than 184 million lei – to pay premiums (100% of the salary) the medical personnel involved in the fight against the new coronavirus. At the same time, more than 37 million lei was allocated from prevention funds for the development and modernization of state medical services, as well as for the purchase of tests, protective masks, gloves. It is notable that all citizens, including uninsured, who are infected with COVID-19, receive free medical care, covered by compulsory medical insurance funds. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the total number of people infected in Moldova since the beginning of March has reached 79,566. 59,220 people have been successfully treated, and 1,866 have died of complications from the virus, including 50 health workers. Currently, the virus is considered active in 18.5 thousand people. The condition of 776 patients is serious (42 of them are connected to ventilators), 1,450 are of moderate severity, the rest is satisfactory.
