Keller HOLZ – foreign investments in the craft beer revolution of the Republic of Moldova

The Austrian-Moldovan company Keller HOLZ has opened in Moldova a new state-of-the-art brewery, built in partnership with the German company Caspary, the world's largest supplier of equipment and a leader in brewing technologies. Keller HOLZ became the successor to the well-known local company Kellers, founded in 1997 - the first Moldovan mini-brewery that opened the doors to the incredible world of craft brewing and offered the local consumer a completely new signature beer, produced according to the most advanced technologies. With the launch of the new factory, the Austrian-Moldovan company Keller HOLZ launches a new era of craft beer in the Republic of Moldova, which means true quality, diverse assortment and wide promotion of beer culture.

"Considering the increase in sales and new requirements of the local market, there was a need to reach a new level of production. We decided not to re-equip the existing facilities, but to build a new factory specially designed for the Caspary production lines", says Alexandru Sava, general director of the Keller HOLZ brewery. The technologies of the brewery make it possible to create an unlimited number of recipes and prepare a wide variety of styles and assortments of high-quality craft beer. The beer is bottled in 0.33 and 0.5 liter bottles, and also delivered in kegs.

Keller HOLZ's technology partner, Caspary, has developed and implemented over 200 industrial restaurant and brewery projects in over 30 countries around the world. Daniel Caspari, the owner of the company, explains: “Since 1788, our family business combines German brewing skills with innovative, future-oriented equipment. Today, our customers are both private mini-breweries and giants such as Paulaner and Heineken. However, the Republic of Moldova remains particularly important to us. We have been developing for the last 5 years the concept of a new brewery in your country, and the quality of the new beer has been the main demand. The team of our Moldovan partners, their attitude towards work and emphasis on quality - made the Keller HOLZ project one of my favorites. I am glad that in the end we produced a real craft beer in Moldova”.

The construction of the factory started in 2019, and in the spring of 2020, our new factory was ready for the equipment installation. Alexandru Sava mentions: “During the pandemic, foreign specialists who install and regulate equipment around the world, faced severe travel restrictions. 2 weeks mandatory quarantine, contributed to the change of terms. Despite all the difficulties, the new Keller HOLZ brewery managed to produce the first beer for the new 2021 season.”

Today, the new Keller HOLZ brewery can produce an unlimited number of beer styles. Using premium German Weyermann malt and state-of-the-art equipment from Caspary, Keller HOLZ producers make high-quality craft beer. To obtain the best types of beer, are used up to 10 different varieties of malt and hops from around the world: Europe, America, New Zealand, Australia, etc. Professional brewers from Germany, Russia and Moldova are constantly working on new recipes and create dozens of original types of craft beer for true connoisseurs of this drink.

Tobias Palmer, the main brewer at Keller HOLZ, claims that: “Keller HOLZ craft beer is based on classic German recipes. At the same time, we continue to constantly improve them, combining classic and innovative approaches to promote the consumption of craft beer among Moldovans”.

In addition to the new brewery, Keller HOLZ has opened in the center of Chisinau, the business card of the factory - Keller HOLZ Gastropub, which will perfectly combine excellent cuisine and quality craft beer. The company also renovated Keller HOLZ Bier Boutique stores located in all sectors of Chisinau, and the sellers were trained and instructed by the company's beer sommelier. The beer is stored in cold rooms with optimal temperature, which guarantees constant freshness and quality.

Today, the Austrian-Moldovan company Keller HOLZ looks with confidence at the future of the craft beer revolution in the Republic of Moldova. "Our mission is to offer the consumer of the Republic of Moldova a high-quality product, so that everyone can find their favorite type of beer and become part of the so-called" craft beer culture ", concludes Alexandru Sava, director of the Keller HOLZ brewery.
