Moldova will implement the eCall system, and in the event of an accident or natural disaster, vehicles will automatically send alerts to the 112 Emergency Service
Specifically, to improve public safety and reduce response times in emergencies, the government has approved a bill providing for the integration of the eCall system into the operations of the National Unified Emergency Call Service 112. The eCall system is an automated mechanism that sends an emergency call to the 112 service in the event of an accident or natural disaster, along with critical data regarding the vehicle’s location and identification. It enables rapid notification of emergency response teams, even in cases where the people inside the vehicle are unable to call for help. The bill establishes the legal framework for the 112 service to receive and process eCall calls and for the automatic transmission of information to emergency response teams. At the same time, the approved amendments impose an obligation on manufacturers and importers of vehicles equipped with the eCall system to inform consumers about how the system works and about the processing of data automatically transmitted in emergency situations. This measure will increase transparency and provide citizens with more comprehensive information about the system’s use and the protection of personal data. // 24.06.2026 — InfoMarket.
