Moldova, Ukraine and Romania are discussing optimal solutions to prevent blockages and optimize the flow of agricultural products transiting through the Republic of Moldova to the EU and third countries.
According to the Customs Service of Moldova, this was discussed during a meeting of the Moldova-Romania-Ukraine Regional Customs Group, which took place with the participation of representatives of the customs and border administrations of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine at the Galati customs office in Romania under the auspices of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM). The MD-RO-UA customs coordination group meets approximately once a quarter (its last meeting took place in December 2023 at the Palanca customs post) and its goal is to coordinate at the regional level actions on the borders between Romania, Moldova and Ukraine to optimize the flow of goods and the EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes. During the meeting, aspects of the operational situation at border checkpoints were discussed in order to determine optimal solutions to prevent blockages and optimize the flow of agricultural goods transiting through Moldova to the EU and third countries. An important topic discussed by the participants concerned the implementation of the project “Development and implementation of the New Computerized Transit System” (NCTS), namely the launch of the project from July 1. Representatives of the Customs Service of Moldova informed about the achievements in the implementation of NCTS, planned actions and established deadlines. During the meeting, the participants also discussed the progress of joint control, successfully carried out at the Giurgiulesti-Reni border checkpoint on the Ukrainian side. At the same time, the discussions concerned the analysis of the Joint Agreement on the initiation of joint controls at the Giurgiulesti-Galati border point in order to speed up the movement of goods and vehicles. // 25.06.2024 - InfoMarket.
