Moldova lifts the ban on the export of wheat and flour.
The Emergency Situations Commission adopted this decision, canceling clauses of its previous decrees, according to which export of wheat was banned during the state of emergency in Moldova since March 1, 2022, and export of wheat or wheat and rye flour since March 12. These restrictions were imposed earlier to ensure food security in the country. At the same time, the earlier ban on sugar exports was maintained. On June 23, the Moldovan authorities extended the state of emergency in the country for another 45 days. Previously, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova Viorel Gherciu said that the wheat harvest in Moldova this year, according to forecasts, will amount to 800-900 thousand tons. In addition, about 100-130 thousand tons of wheat will remain from the previous year's harvest, so the country will have between 950,000 and 1,050,000 tons of wheat in total. At the same time, Moldova needs 660 thousand tons of grain to ensure its food security. As InfoMarket Agency earlier reported, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, the gross output of wheat in Moldova in 2021 amounted to 1 million 558 thousand tons, up 2.7 times compared to the previous year. // 27.06.2022 - InfoMarket
