The EU Mission has started identifying priority areas of assistance to Moldova in 2021-2027.
According to the MFAEI, the elaboration of the Multi-Year Indicative Plan started on February 1. The discussion of the plan was held within the framework of a videoconference between the EU representatives and the Acting Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Aureliu Ciocoi. Consultations will take place this week with several national institutions, including all ministries in the country, the Accounts Chamber and the Bureau for Reintegration. The new Multi-Year Indicative Program will reflect the financial assistance provided to Moldova and the sectoral priorities that will be supported over the next 7 years. As noted by the MFAEI, the European Union is one of the main financial donors of Moldova. Assistance is provided in several forms: budget support, financial and technical assistance, including TAIEX, TWINNING, SIGMA, high-level advisory missions - EUHLPAM program, advisory projects or exchange of experience, etc. During the videoconference, Aureliu Ciocoi stressed that Moldova supports 5 areas presented by the European Commission in the EU Communication on the Eastern Partnership Policy after 2020: economic sustainability, rule of law and security, environment, digital transformation, inclusive society. They are to be formally adopted at the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit this year. In this context, Aureliu Ciocoi noted that Moldova’s development plan should include measures related to economic recovery and long-term development priorities in areas such as the rule of law, economic sustainability, energy efficiency and energy security, agriculture, education, health care, waste management, etc. // 02.02.2021 - InfoMarket.
