In the first quarter of 2026, Moldova increased food imports in monetary terms by 0.2% to €307.7 million, compared to the same period in 2025
As reported to the InfoMarket agency by the National Bureau of Statistics, specifically for the first three months of 2026, compared to the same period of the previous year, imports of fruits and vegetables into the country decreased by 2.6% to €80.92 million. Imports of grains and grain products increased by 2.8% to €42.77 million. In January–March 2026, Moldova imported approximately €41.9 million worth of dairy products and poultry eggs, which is 3.6% more than during the same period a year earlier. Imports of various food products and preparations increased by 0.4% to €32.08 million, while imports of meat and meat products decreased by 1.2% to €25.12 million, while imports of coffee, tea, cocoa, spices, and their substitutes rose by 2.4% to €26.26 million. Imports of products in the “Fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and aquatic invertebrates” category fell by 10.6% to €24.05 million. Imports of animal feed decreased by 1% to €16.82 million, while imports of sugar, sugar products, and honey fell by 28.6% to €9.66 million; however, imports of live animals increased 5.4-fold in value terms to €8.13 million. // 15.06.2026 – InfoMarket.
