Moldova and Romania are stepping up interdepartmental cooperation to implement infrastructure projects in the context of European integration

In particular, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), Anca Dragu, held a meeting with a delegation from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania, during which issues of interdepartmental cooperation and the role of infrastructure projects in the process of Moldova's European integration were discussed. It was noted that infrastructure projects contribute to sustainable growth in economic activity, stimulate national and international trade, and promote local and regional development. The banking system actively and significantly contributes to the implementation of infrastructure projects and, indirectly, to regional development. The discussions were attended by Moldova's Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea, State Secretary of the same ministry Mircea Pascaluta, State Secretary of the Romanian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Irinel Scriosteanu, and Chief of Staff of the same Ministry Mihai Staicu. The dialogue focused on the importance of implementing infrastructure projects as a strategic pillar of regional connectivity, emphasizing their role in strengthening Moldova's irreversible European path. Participants stressed the need for effective coordination between government agencies to support investment, mobility, and economic integration. In this context, NBM Governor Anca Dragu emphasized the importance of dialogue between key state institutions in the process of modernization and European integration. She noted that European integration is a process that goes beyond a single sector. “Infrastructure projects, regional interconnectivity, and financial stability are mutually complementary. Inter-institutional dialogue is necessary to ensure coherence, predictability, and trust on this common path,” said the head of the National Bank. The symbolic aspect of institutional cooperation was also highlighted during the meeting: the Romanian delegation highly appreciated the NBM's initiatives to commemorate historical events and important moments by issuing commemorative and anniversary coins as an expression of institutional memory and Moldova's European path. // 20.01.2026 — InfoMarket
