As of the end of 2024, exports of fruits and nuts from Moldova exceeded 266 thousand tons, accounting for 6.57% of the country's total foreign supplies

The Moldovan Investment Agency reported this, noting that total exports of fruits and vegetables amounted to $292.4 million, ranking fifth among the country's main export goods. The main markets remain the European Union and the Middle East, but the markets of South and Southeast Asia are becoming increasingly important. Promoting success stories, the Moldovan Investment Agency notes that one of the key players in this segment is Velfruct Prim, which in 2024 exported over 15 thousand tons of fresh fruit to more than 15 countries, including Germany, the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, Romania, the UAE, and Oman. According to the company's director, Pavel Vieru, the focus for 2025 is on entering the Indian market, which has strategic potential. “Last year confirmed that modern technologies and international standards make it possible to overcome climatic and logistical challenges. Despite the spring frosts, we maintained our supply volumes and also signed new contracts with partners from the EU and the Middle East,” said Pavel Vieru. Founded in 2010, Velfruct Prim owns 70 hectares of apple orchards with Gala, Fuji, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, and Red Chief varieties. The company uses super-intensive cultivation technologies, which allow it to quickly and consistently serve export markets. The company is certified according to GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS standards, the latter being rare among Moldovan fresh produce producers. In October 2024, Velfruct Prim took part in the Fruit Attraction international exhibition in Madrid, where it presented its products as part of the Moldova Fruct Association delegation with the support of the Investment Agency. As a result of the exhibition, it signed an export contract worth €1 million. Representatives of the Moldova Fruct Association and the Moldovan Investment Agency note that the success of individual companies confirms the potential of Moldovan horticulture as an export industry, especially with targeted state and institutional support. Among the priorities for the coming years, as outlined in the sector's development strategies, are strengthening the logistics infrastructure, promoting a single national brand for Moldovan fruit, and deepening access to new export markets, especially in Asia and the Middle East. // 07.05.2025 – InfoMarket.
