The National Food Safety Agency warns: honey-flavored invert syrup and artificial honey are not the same thing
The National Food Safety Agency said that through official inspections and numerous requests from individuals and businesses, it has been established that “honey-flavoured invert syrup”, which is mistakenly called artificial honey, is still on the market. Invert syrup is used to make “Medovik” or “Honey” cakes, the very name of which suggests the use of natural or artificial honey. However, such cakes are made using honey-flavored syrup, and manufacturers use the words “artificial honey” in the name of the product and on its label. This is a violation - manufacturers, who are legally responsible for informing consumers, are misleading them. The National Food Safety Agency calls on confectionery manufacturers to comply with the legislation on product labeling, warning that fines for such violations reach 25 thousand lei. // 23.07.2024 — InfoMarket.
