The EU remains the main trading partner of Transnistria since 2014 - Bureau for Reintegration.
According to the agency, the most intensive period of export of goods to the EU was in 2015 (64.39% of all exports of Transnistria in that year), and imports from the EU - in 2014 (47.17%). The EU remains the main destination for goods produced/imported in Transnistria, despite percentage fluctuations in 2014-2021. Thus, the share of exports of goods to the EU was: 64.3% in 2014, 64.39% in 2015, 56.12% in 2016, 55.31% in 2017, 58.1% in 2018, 50.99% in 2019, 56.6% in 2020 and 54.32% in 2021. The share of imports of goods from the EU was: 47.17% in 2014, 38.78% in 2015, 46.07% in 2016, 32.73% in 2017, 26.16% in 2018, 32.83% in 2019, 36.22% in 2020 and 39.04 % in 2021. The dominance of the EU as a trading partner underlines the increased interest of economic agents in establishing business relations with the EU and working in accordance with the requirements of the national regulatory framework. Earlier, the Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) reported that in 2021 the EU remained the main market for metal products from the Transnistrian region and the predominant supplier of ferrous scrap, which accounted for 72% of all exports of metal products from the Transnistrian region and 99% of scrap imports of ferrous metals. However, in December 2021, there were no imports of scrap metal from the EU to the Transnistrian region due to the entry into force in November 2021 of the European Commission Regulation on the export for the disposal of certain wastes, according to which the export of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap that does not meet EU standards for waste processing is prohibited.//04.10.2022 – InfoMarket.
