The Prime Minister's Economic Council accepts business proposals for the draft Digital Transformation Strategy and the e-commerce stimulation package.
Drafts of both documents were discussed on the platform of the advisory council on digitalization of the economy (iConsiliu). Proposals for updating the roadmap for the digitization of the economy were voiced during the discussions. Deputy Prime Minister for digitization Iurie Turcanu noted that the strategy sets 6 priority objectives to be achieved by Moldova by 2030: development of digital society; strong, innovative and competitive ICT environment; safe and reliable digital environment; digital public services leading to a functioning digital state; international cooperation and promotion of digital Moldova; digital economy. He stressed that the ICT sector has become the main driver of digitalization and innovation in Moldova and is growing rapidly. In 2020, the ICT sector accounted for more than 7% of GDP, and the share of innovative enterprises was 12.6% of the total number of enterprises in the country. At the same time, only 127 out of 662 public services are available today in electronic form, and this hampers the development of the economy. During the meeting, Sergiu Gaibu, head of the Ministry of Economy, told about the progress of the second bill on the promotion of electronic commerce (E-Commerce). He specified that the document is aimed at changing and updating the regulatory framework in the field of customs procedures, postal and courier services, online payments, etc. to facilitate e-commerce. Consultations on both projects are ongoing; all interested parties may send their proposals through the Secretariat of the Economic Council. // 11.08.2022 - InfoMarket
