Moldova and the EU will expand cooperation on food safety and discuss export authorization for processed pork – the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA)
This agreement was reached during a working visit to Brussels by Radu Musteata, Director General of the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA), who held a series of high-level meetings with representatives of the European Commission, including the Deputy Director General of the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE), the Director General of the Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighborhood (DG ENEST), the Director General of the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI), and the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food. ANSA Director General briefed European Commission officials on the progress of the DG SANTE audit missions this year, in particular those related to Moldova's application for export authorization for processed pork and to the monitoring of residues in animal products. Radu Musteata reaffirmed Moldova's commitment to continuing to implement all recommendations from European experts to meet EU requirements and standards, as well as accession criteria in the agency's areas of competence. The ANSA Director General's participation in these meetings provided an opportunity to highlight Moldova's achievements in food safety and animal health, as well as strengthen technical dialogue with European institutions responsible for sanitary, veterinary, and phytosanitary policies.
