The Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture will analyze with banks the proposal of farmers to declare state of emergency in the agricultural sector

This was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture after a meeting of its leadership with representatives of Forta Fermierilor (Farmers' Power) Association. The main issues discussed were the process of collecting data on the damage suffered by farmers, access to financing, relations with commercial banks and other creditors, etc. Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea said that the agricultural department is negotiating with the district departments of agriculture on the centralization of information on drought damage. In this regard, a meeting with the heads of district departments of agriculture will be organized next week. Based on the results of the assessment, the amount of damage at the district level will be determined. “We continue to monitor the situation and next week we will hold discussions with representatives of commercial banks, the Authorized Administrators Union of Moldova and distributors of resources, in order to efficiently solve the current problems,” Vladimir Bolea said. The farmers who participated in the meeting suggested declaring state of emergency in the agricultural sector as a measure to negotiate more favorable conditions with creditors. According to the Agriculture Ministry, this proposal will be analyzed, including discussions with representatives of banks and other creditors, in order to assess the economic effect. // 26.07.2024 - InfoMarket.
