
In 2020, salaries in the private sector of Moldova increased by an average of 4.52% - PwC.
According to the latest PwC research “Review of salaries and other remuneration - PayWell Moldova”, the growth of salaries in the first half of 2020 was slightly lower than companies planned (5.98%). Also, salary growth was lower than in 2019 (+ 7.65%). According to Ionut Simion, Managing Partner of PwC in Romania and Moldova, despite the economic situation and the crisis caused by COVID-19 and other problems, such as labor migration, the companies have kept their budgets to raise salaries. Most of all salaries have grown in IT companies - by 5.17%. In pharmaceutical companies, wages rose by 5%, in consumer goods and industrial companies - by 2.07%, in telecommunications companies - by 1.61%. The salaries of companies’ management increased the most - by 5.09%, specialists - by 4.32%, and administrative personnel - by 4.17%. Salaries among unskilled workers increased least - by 1.38%. For 2021, the companies participating in the survey have planned an average salary growth of 4.59%. It is expected that wages in IT companies will grow by 5.86%, in the pharmaceutical sector - by 5.33%, in the consumer goods and industrial sectors - by 3.11%. Telecommunications companies have so far refrained from forecasting salary growth next year. “Moldovan companies are adapting to the new conditions associated with restrictions due to COVID-19, and have invested in digitalization, resorted to telecommuting, and are trying to motivate staff in order to stay productive.
