On May 13, Chisinau will host the Moldova Electronics Forum to showcase innovations, discuss new investments, and explore the prospects for the development of the electronics industry
The event is being held for the fourth time, and this year's motto is “Transformation. Innovation. Competitiveness.” The main focus will be on how Moldovan companies can transform crises into innovative opportunities and contribute to regional competitiveness. The Moldova Electronics Forum will bring together industry leaders, decision-makers, academics, and investors to discuss current challenges, emerging opportunities, and innovative solutions that could shape the future of the electronics industry in Moldova. The Forum will provide participants with an opportunity to learn about trends, opportunities, and challenges in the electronics, engineering, and services sectors of this industry, network with experts and professionals in the field, participate in networking sessions, and analyze case studies and success stories. The objectives of the Forum are to promote the exchange of best practices and the latest technological innovations and solutions used in this field, which will contribute to strengthening Moldova's position as a country playing an important role in the regional electronics industry focused on competitiveness, sustainability, and European integration. In addition, during a special discussion, participants will learn how to effectively promote their business in the online environment and exchange ideas on how innovation can transform companies and contribute to increased competitiveness in international markets. The discussions will cover success stories, digital strategies, and real-life stories of entrepreneurs who have successfully developed their businesses in the electronics sector by implementing modern technologies and applying innovative thinking. A key highlight of the event will be a discussion on human resource development, a topic that is particularly relevant in the context of accelerated automation and the transition to smart manufacturing models prevalent in the digital industrial age. Representatives of companies, educational institutions, and government agencies will take part in the discussions, jointly considering specific solutions aimed at training, attracting, and retaining skilled workers. On May 14, under the auspices of the Moldova Electronics Forum, the “Embedded System Hackathon – a challenge for young people in the electronics industry” will be held for young people interested in the electronics industry, as well as a job fair. During the fair, which is being held for the seventh time, young people interested in employment opportunities will be able to communicate directly with employers in the engineering field, review job offers, and submit their resumes to fill relevant positions, receiving direct feedback and useful information about labor market requirements. During the Hackathon, young people will have the opportunity to develop electronic prototypes using microcontrollers, sensors, wireless communications, and hard-soft interfaces, with the guidance of specialists who have considerable experience working with embedded systems. The most successful projects will be presented to the community, their authors will receive awards, and the event itself may open up new career opportunities in Moldova's electronics industry. The Moldova Electronics Forum has become a strategic platform for stimulating investment, promoting international cooperation, and supporting the development of the electronics sector in Moldova. The Forum is designed to actively promote Moldova as a reliable partner in the European electronics industry—a field with ever-growing potential that is playing an increasingly important role in the economy of the future. It should be noted that at the global level, in a period characterized by rapid change, energy challenges, and continuous technological innovation, the electronics industry is strengthening its role as a pillar of sustainable development and economic adaptation to new realities. Moldova is also experiencing similar dynamics, and the country is increasingly taking advantage of the opportunities offered by its rapprochement with the European Union and integration into international economic chains. According to statistics, in recent years, interest in high-demand electronic products has grown in the European market. In particular, imports of electrical wires and cables to the EU in 2023 increased by 8.5% compared to 2019, transformers and static converters - by 18.6%, and electrical circuit connection equipment - by 6.7%. These changes confirm the potential of Moldova's electronics industry, which is contributing to even greater integration into European trade. Moreover, in 2023, the government approved the National Industrial Development Program for 2024–2028, which sets out key directions and a concept for the development of Moldova's manufacturing industry in the medium term. Currently, Moldovan industry is mainly characterized by the manufacture of low value-added products, with 13.5% of the workforce employed in this sector, and production is mainly oriented towards the domestic market. // 06.05.2025 — InfoMarket
