The money for the implementation of the Budget+PLUS, the government's largest financial package for investments and economic growth with a total allocation of 8 billion lei, is allocated to Moldova by the EU, while half of the money is grants

Prime Minister Dorin Recean told this at a news conference on Thursday. He noted that the EU provides this assistance to Moldova, among other things, for the modernization of the economy, for the speedy launch and implementation of the planned investment projects, which are to be implemented by the end of this year. On April 3, the government plans to approve amendments to the law on the state budget for 2025, in order to envisage the receipt and allocation of additional funds from the EU, and tomorrow, the parliament will examine the adjustment of the 2025 budget. Dorin Recean explained that half of the 8 billion lei allocated to Moldova by the EU is given in the form of a grant, and these funds are used to pay compensations to the population and enterprises to partially cover the increase in energy bills. At the same time, the money for the implementation of the second line of the Budget+PLUS - Economic Development Package, the means for strategic investments in projects that ensure economic growth, will be received from the EU in the form of advance, preliminary financing within the 1.9-billion-euro Economic Growth Plan for Moldova. Prime Minister said that Moldova may receive the first tranche of these funds after the adoption of amendments to the state budget for 2025, and will actually start using them in May. He said that the reform program has already been agreed upon with the EU, and this package of reforms is being implemented. At the beginning of March, the European Parliament approved a Growth Plan for Moldova with financing of 1.9 billion euros. This is the largest allocation of funds by the EU since independence and will support Moldova in 2025-2027. The EU is expected to provide up to 385 million euros in grants and 1.5 billion euros in loans. These loans will be highly concessional, with long repayment periods and favorable interest rates. Disbursements will be subject to strict conditions in terms of achieving the reforms set out in the agreed Reform Program. The funds will be disbursed twice a year, based on requests from the Moldovan government and after verification by the European Commission that all relevant conditions set out in the Reform Program have been met. // 03.04.2025 - InfoMarket.
