Government of Moldova will elaborate in 2021 measures to support the business environment - Ion Chicu.
According to the government's press service, Prime Minister said this during an online meeting with representatives of the US Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AmCham), at which a package of tax measures for 2021 aimed at improving the business environment was discussed. Prime Minister thanked business representatives for the open dialogue and measures taken during the pandemic. “Despite the problems, you worked, paid taxes, did everything so that the government could pay salaries, pensions and continue financing investment projects,” Ion Chicu said. During the meeting, AmCham representatives presented to the government a number of proposals that provide for bringing tax practices in line with international ones and provide measures of predictability. They touched upon issues related to the establishment of a tax calendar for excise taxes and VAT restrictions, deduction of expenses that provide for the fight against Covid-19, clarification of the procedure for non-residents, electronic invoices (e-factura), etc. Ion Chicu noted that in 2021 the government intends to develop clear measures to support the business environment in Moldova. “We will continue to offer business support measures. We intend to refund VAT accumulated domestically, and at this stage we are already subsidizing salary payments. We also plan to compensate interest on loans to farmers. It is very important that in 2021-2022 the government will continue to invest in infrastructure; we will make capital social investments. The government's attention will be directed to strengthening the medical system, and we will not come up with measures to restrict the economy,” Prime Minister stressed. State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Dorel Noroc spoke about some of the measures that are part of the government's tax policy for 2021-2023. It is about reducing the costs of economic agents by increasing the number of able-bodied population, especially among young people. Priority will be given to people who have lost their jobs starting with March 17, 2020. In addition, employers who will recruit people with disabilities will receive a 100% pay subsidy. There has also been progress in eliminating the economic police. In this regard, a working group has been created at the level of the State Tax Service, which from January 1, 2021 will take over all the powers of the economic police. // 10.11.2020 - InfoMarket.
