The MIA instant payment system developed by the National Bank of Moldova is now available for transfers between companies (B2B)

According to the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), starting March 2, companies can use the MIA instant payment system to make instant transfers between legal entities (business-to-business – B2B) via internet and mobile banking provided by payment services. The new option is an important step in modernizing the national payment infrastructure and supporting the business environment. Thus, companies can initiate and receive transfers in Moldovan lei 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including outside the working hours of payment services, with real-time settlements in a matter of seconds. The MIA instant payment system is one of the most widely used digital financial solutions in Moldova. The new B2B functionality complements the services already available: instant transfers between individuals, payments for businesses, and payments for public services, strengthening MIA's role as a modern national payment infrastructure. Anca Dragu, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, noted that the instant payment system (MIA) is constantly evolving, adding new features that provide greater flexibility and transform the way money circulates in the economy, which is of great importance to the business environment. According to her, instant payments are rethinking the way companies manage financial flows, offering speed, efficiency, and a real competitive advantage. “In a dynamic economic environment, MIA is a business accelerator and one of the most notable transformations of recent years, directly influencing how people manage their finances, the operational efficiency of companies, and the relationship between government agencies and citizens,” said the NBM Governor. She noted that instant B2B transfers enable real-time settlements, facilitating liquidity management and commercial transactions without delays. They can be used to pay bills, advances, unblock deliveries, or other payments related to commercial relationships. The commission is 0.7% of the transfer amount, but does not exceed 40 lei per transaction, which ensures transparent and predictable costs for companies. “Extending the use of instant payments to legal entities optimizes financial flows, simplifies commercial relations, and reduces dependence on the working hours of payment service providers, while supporting the digitalization of economic processes,” emphasized Anca Dragu. The MIA instant payment system, created by the NBM, is a central element of Moldova's modern payment infrastructure, playing an important role in increasing the efficiency and transparency of financial transactions in Moldovan lei. Its development confirms its potential to become a benchmark model for the digitalization of payments in the region, contributing to the development of a more efficient, inclusive, and better aligned financial ecosystem. The MIA system was launched on March 12, 2024, and is used by every second citizen who has at least one bank account, confirming the rapid implementation of the solution at the national level. // 02.03.2026 – InfoMarket.
