Moldova and France will expand bilateral cooperation in preventing and combating corruption, also the return of criminally acquired property

This was discussed during a meeting between the leadership of the National Anti-Corruption Center (NAC) and the French Ambassador to Moldova, Dominique Waag. The parties praised the high level of cooperation between the NAC and relevant French institutions and emphasized the importance of continuing and deepening this strategic partnership. Particular attention was paid to collaboration with the French Anti-Corruption Agency (AFA) in the area of corruption prevention, including through information exchange, training, and active participation in the Network of Corruption Prevention Authorities (NCPA). They also reaffirmed the importance of the dialogue initiated between the NAC and the French Anti-Corruption Agency, aimed at intensifying bilateral cooperation, developing a memorandum of understanding, and conducting reciprocal visits to identify areas of mutual interest. A key focus of the discussions was cooperation in the area of criminal asset recovery, including collaboration between the Agency for the Recovery of Criminally Obtained Assets and the National Anti-Corruption Center with their French counterparts – the Platform for the Identification of Criminal Assets (PIAC) and the Agency for the Management and Recovery of Confiscated and Seized Assets (AGRASC). In this context, the results of this cooperation were highlighted, including the seizure of assets located in France worth approximately 76 million lei. Previously implemented joint projects and activities were also mentioned: a bilateral Moldova-France conference on the recovery of criminally acquired assets (October 2022), a trilateral seminar in April 2023, organized at the headquarters of the National Anti-Corruption Center, and a recent meeting with representatives of the French agency "Expertise France", dedicated to identifying institutional needs to be financed through French projects. At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness to continue cooperation and leverage French experience to improve the effectiveness of measures to prevent and combat corruption, as well as to recover assets obtained through criminal activity. // 28.01.2026 — InfoMarket.
