The Competition Council is examining the economic concentration of Vetropack Austria Holding with Glass Container Company, Glass Container Prim and Glass Container Prim Plus.

The Competition Council is studying the deal whereby Vetropack Austria Holding (Switzerland) becomes the owner of Glass Container Company, Glass Container Prim and Glass Container Prim Plus. The UK notes that the main activity of Vetropack Austria Holding is the production and sale of glass containers, glass processing. On the Moldovan market, the company will specialize in the sale of glass containers. The Competition Council analyzes the deal from an anti-competitive perspective and encourages all stakeholders to comment on the impact of this concentration on the competitive environment. Vetropack is the leading Swiss player among European glass container manufacturers with an annual turnover of 714.9 million Swiss francs in 2019, with subsidiaries in Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Ukraine and Italy. Glass Container Companies (GCC) is the largest manufacturer of glass containers in Moldova, occupying leading positions in the market in various categories of food and beverages in Moldova, Romania and other countries of Central and Eastern Europe. GCC was established in 1995 and is the preferred supplier of a number of leading European producers of wine, beer, spirits, bottled water and prepackaged food. In 2019, an investment of 17 million euros was made in the Glass Container group of companies, which includes Glass Container Prim and Glass Container Prim Plus. The main shareholders of GCC at the end of 2019 were: WNISEF - 40%; Purcari Wineries - 31%; Moldova Agroindbank - 17%. The main shareholders of GCP were WNISEF (81%) and Moldova Agroindbank (17%).
